Reflections - Day 1 (by Eunice)

My key learning points from each session:

Importance of Water - Dirty and Clean
Water is important, both for life and for the economy, and there are many ways to improve water quality, such as at the high-end area where you work with companies who tries to solve the problem, and the ‘real’ helping of the people affected by doing community service and volunteer work.

Revolution of Microelectronics Technology
Revolutions have had and have been happening, and it is up to us to continue it, to continue improving our lives in the process of making things better.

Biomedical Engineering and Technology
Nano-technology is mostly about increasing the surface area in the same volume, gaining and harvesting the energy from it.

IT for Animation
Animating involves a lot of work, but effort must always be put in to achieve results in any field.

Disappearing glaciers, rising sea levels, and why gravity is even more important than you think
The rise of sea levels are not always the same in different places. Some places would receive a greater rise than others, depending on the geography of the area

My deepest impression...

The plenary session that leaves the deepest impression on me is the session about the cleanliness of water, because the crisis is very real, tangible, and can be seen, such that it gives a greater impact than making improvements using things that can’t be seen, which would be a bit hard to visualise as a problem or a real need that needs to be solved.
