Day 1 Plenary Sessions - Roy Chua

1. Importance of Water - Dirty and Clean

This session helped me to understand the importance of water to us and how precious it is for our survival and development of society. Thus I learnt that we have to now try to save as much water as possible to enable us to advance as a whole society.

2. Revolution of Microelectronics Technology

This session helped to understand the extend of what electronics can do and the possibilities of what the human mind and engineering can do. Thus I have gained a deeper insight of the current level of technology can achieve.

3. Biomedical Engineering & Technology

This session helped me to find out more about how well advanced the modern technology is capable of achieving by just simply manipulating different materials and to use them at various sizes in order to help people in many ways.

4. IT for Animation

The session taught me about how much time and effort are put into the animated shows we have nowadays and that we should not take them for granted. The shows should be respected as having to repeat the animating process, especially for 2D animated shows, take a long time, and thus are hard to maintain their standard.

5. Disappearing glaciers, rising sea levels, and why gravity is even more important than you think

The session has taught me that we must get all sides of a story before making our own opinion to any situation. I also learnt about how greatly gravity has affected the sea levels and that countries near the equator are bound to be in more danger than those near glaciers, thus we, living in Singapore, have to care more about the environment in order to prevent sea levels to be higher than the land mass of Singapore and its surrounding countries.

Deepest Impression

The plenary session that leaves the deepest impression on me is 'IT for Animation'. What I like about it is because I am interested in animation and art. The session also featured the most videos, allowing us to be more engaged to the session than others. Furthermore, the theme of anime allows some students' attentions to be caught as some students are interested in anime.
